Goals and planning: what you want to achieve, with the work behind it
What you want to achieve and when, with the work behind it on the work board.
Does this sound familiar?
Which teams this board is for
For a team that wants to see what it wants to achieve this year or this quarter, and whether the everyday work contributes to it. A marketing team with a new website and an annual report on the plan. A team that wants to discuss its annual plan every month rather than once a year.
The board also works for a project's milestones, or for an overview of a few projects at once: each card is then a project or a milestone. More on this on the page about project management.
Goals in their period
On this board, a card is a goal or a result. It sits in the period in which it must be finished: Now, Next or Later, or a quarter, or a phase of a project. It does not move through the columns the way work does. The colour shows how it is doing: on track, needs attention or behind.
You link a goal to the cards on the work board. If the work behind it shows no progress, the goal needs attention. More on choosing and tracking goals on the page about annual plans and team goals.
How it works in Midflyt
A card is a goal, a result or something that must be finished within a period or phase. The columns: Now, Next, Later and Achieved. Or, if you choose Quarters when you create the board: Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4 and Achieved. Or, if you choose Phases when you create the board: Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 3 and Achieved.
For each goal: is it on track and why, and is the work behind it moving? Then what moves to Now and what you stop doing.
Goals meeting, every month. Quarterly meeting, every quarter.
